The Perfect Father by Jason Ling
Luke 11:13, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
As Father's Day approaches I can’t help but think about my dad and the things he tried to provide for me. When I asked for special things, he did his best to provide, because I know he loved and cared for me. Now that I’m a dad, I realize that because I love my children, I do my best to provide them what they ask for, even though some things they ask for could be less than good for them.
Luke explains to us that even though in our sinful nature we provide gifts, how much more will our perfect Father in heaven provide the perfect gifts at the perfect times in our lives, that are always good for us. God knows us way better than we could ever imagine, right down to the number of hairs on our heads. Shouldn’t we put all our trust in that Father!
So call out to him and ask for what you need. Rest assured that he will provide you with his Spirit and all that we need to not only survive life, but live it abundantly, as He sees fit. After all he is indeed perfect when we are not, and will provide just what we need.
Lord I thank you for our dads and all they did for us, as they did their best. We are all grateful for the special time we shared with them, even though they weren’t perfect. Even more, thank you for your heavenly presence perfect Father, and the gift of your Son, Spirit, and abundant life. Amen.
