Trusting God in Uncertain Times
Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
Devotional: Life rarely unfolds exactly as we plan. Jobs change, relationships shift, health struggles appear, and unexpected challenges can leave us wondering what comes next. In seasons of uncertainty, it's natural to want answers. We want to know the outcome before taking the next step.
But faith isn't built on knowing every detail—it's built on knowing the One who does.
When Peter stepped out of the boat to walk toward Jesus, the storm around him hadn't stopped (Matthew 14:22–33). The wind still howled, and the waves still crashed. The miracle wasn't that the storm disappeared; it was that Jesus was present in the middle of it. Peter only began to sink when he shifted his focus from Christ to his circumstances.
We often do the same thing. We become overwhelmed by "what ifs," future worries, and unanswered questions. Yet God continually reminds us that His presence is greater than our uncertainty. He has never promised a life without storms, but He has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us.
Trust doesn't mean pretending everything is okay. It means choosing to believe that God is working even when we can't see it. It means taking the next faithful step, knowing He is already ahead of us.
Isaiah reminds us: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You." — Isaiah 26:3
Peace isn't found in having all the answers. It's found in trusting the One who holds them.
If you're walking through an uncertain season today, remember this: God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again. The same God who guided Israel through the wilderness, calmed the raging sea, and raised Jesus from the dead is the same God walking beside you today.
You may not know what tomorrow holds—but you know who holds tomorrow.
