God Goes With You
God Goes With You
A Back-To-School Devotional
Scripture:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6
A New School Year
A new school year can bring a mixture of excitement and nervousness. There may be new schools, new teachers, new classrooms, new friends, harder assignments, and experiences you have never faced before.
You may wonder, “Will I fit in? Will I make new friends? Will I do well? What if something goes wrong?
But there’s something important to remember as you begin this new school year: you never go into a new day alone. God is always with you.
God was with you during every challenge last year, and he will be with you this year too. When you walk through the school doors, He’s there. When you sit in your classroom, He’s there. When you feel left out, overwhelmed, afraid, He’s there.
You don’t have to know everything that this school year will bring. You simply need to trust the one who already knows.
Maybe God will use you to encourage someone who feels lonely. Maybe He will give you courage to stand up for what is right. Maybe He will place someone in your path who needs a friend. Your school year isn’t just about grades and activities - it can also be an opportunity to show God’s love to those around you.
So as you begin this school year, don’t focus on what you have to accomplish. Ask God to help you become the person who He is calling you to become.
Be brave. Be kind. Be patient. Be willing to help. And remember that God is with you every step of the way.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for being with me as I begin this new school year. When I am nervous, remind me that I am never alone. Give me courage when things are difficult, wisdom when I need to make good choices, and kindness towards everyone I meet.
Help me to be a light at school and show Your love through my words and actions. Help me to remember that my identity is not based on my grades, popularity or accomplishments. I am Your child and You are always with me.
Guide me through this school year and help me trust You with each new day.
Amen.
This Week’s Challenge:
Be someone’s encouragement.
Look for one person at school who may need a friend, a kind word, or some encouragement - and be that person to show them God’s love.
Take Away:
You may be starting a new school year, but you are not starting it alone. God goes with you.
