NO HOPE, NO PEACE. KNOW HOPE, KNOW PEACE by Reed Leiting
HOPE is real. It is in our Lord! PEACE is a state of the heart, not a situation. When we place our trust firmly in God and His perspective on our lives, we are able to view our lives and evaluate what is important from His viewpoint. Peace is accepting God’s sovereign control over all of life’s challenges.
Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope”.
Romans 5:1-5, “… we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. … we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that sufferings produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character hope, and hope does not disappoint, ....”
From the hymn My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less:
"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace. In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand. His oath, His covenant, His blood supports me in the ‘whelming flood. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay."
We see that we have a choice about how we look at life - who or what we put our hope in. We can put our hope in the ever changing world and end up having no peace, OR we can put our hope in God and know peace.
