The Lord Will Satisfy by Jason Ling
"The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."
Isaiah 58:11
I don’t know about you but there are times in my life when I don’t feel like a well watered garden. Sometimes I may even feel sun-scorched or dry inside. I know it’s nobody’s fault but my own when my schedule seems to be bursting at the seems and every time I turn around there is just one more thing to get done. I may even start to think I have to do all this myself. But that is simply not true. It’s a deception that can easily lead me further from the truth of God being in charge.
Isaiah 58:11 is a good reminder to me that the Lord will always guide me if I take the time to allow him to. If I put myself on a pedestal or get into the mindset that if I don’t do this, whatever this may be, it will never get done, I begin to look to myself as the chief guiding factor in my life rather than allowing God to guide me in his way for his purpose. I truly can be well watered and healthy when I allow God to be my guide.
God satisfies all my needs, most importantly the needs I can’t even recognize. God knows what I need even before I do and is right there meeting me where I am, to satisfy and care for my every need. I don’t need to play God but simply listen and watch as he provides all that I really need. And for me, that is not a schedule that doesn’t allow time for God. For he truly is the most important need in my life.
What gets in the way for you? Do you feel well watered or do you try to water yourself? Do you always allow the Lord to guide you? He is always perfect and we can all rest easy when we simply allow God to be God and we seek and listen to his guidance.
Lord, I pray this week that each one of us seeks out your guidance in our lives, and that we not only hear you but truly listen to what you are trying to tell us. May we put our full trust in you and not in ourselves or the earthly things around us. You are always good to us and love us beyond our comprehension. Thank you for all you do for us. Amen.
