Fear or Faith by Reed Leiting

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek him." Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)

We were watching a bird in a tree on a day that was one of our Southwest Minnesota super windy days like we see so many of in this area. He/she just faced into the wind and hung on to the branch. Fear is the opposite of faith and unfortunately fear sometimes comes easier than faith. From the external, that bird did not appear to be afraid (even as a veterinarian I am not sure I could recognize it!). God calls us to have faith. The winds of life are often blowing into our face. He calls us to “face into” the winds of life. He calls us to have faith and hang on. But just as the bird has a flock, we are not asked to go it alone. We can reach out to others to assist in carrying the load, as hard as that is to do sometimes.

Faith pleases God. The Christian life is dependent upon faith. We stand on faith; we live on faith. Faith is loved and honored by God more than any other single thing. No man has sins forgiven, no man goes to heaven, no man has assurance of peace and happiness, until he has faith in Jesus Christ. Perhaps your faith is small and weak. It does not matter how big your faith is, but rather, where your faith is. Is it in Christ, the Son of God, who died on the cross for your sins?
