Living As The Spirit Tells Us
"You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” Romans 8:9
Romans 8:9 talks about us as believers in Christ. Because we are believers in Christ, we no longer walk in the flesh, but in the spirit.
The Good News translation of Romans 8:9 reads, “But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; instead, you live as the Spirit tells you to—if, in fact, God's Spirit lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.” If we are no longer walking in the flesh, what should our lives look like to the world around us? If we do not live as our human nature tells us, we are going to look different than the world around us.
Is this going to be easy? No, it’s not. Paul tells us we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us to help us. We should ask ourselves, is God’s Spirit living in us? Do we look different than the world or do we fit right in? Let’s look at God’s word more and less at what human nature is telling us.
My prayer for the Lakeside family this week is that we start spending more time with Jesus and asking for the Holy Spirit’s direction in life this week and beyond.
