Jesus Our Comfort

What does this picture evoke in you? 1 It appears that tears are falling from Jesus and the woman in the picture. Are they sitting in a puddle of their tears? Could it be that they both are fervently praying? Have you ever pictured Jesus right beside you in your suffering, tears, sadness, and through your prayers? 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 says,

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”
Jesus meets us in our suffering and connects us with the comfort of God our Father. We ourselves are comforted by God through the presence of Jesus as we pray and through our suffering.

One song I have been listening to on repeat is “He Understands” by Chandler Moore
One verse says: Fully God and Man; He felt it all, all, all; High as King but still; He's low enough; To meet us where we are.

We can be comforted knowing that we are not alone, that Jesus is near to the broken-hearted. He does understand us. He went to the extent of dying on the cross for you and me to bring us near. Even in the everyday ordinary moments of the day Jesus is near and understands.

We can also do as Jesus did and comfort others in their sorrow. We can compassionately sit and suffer with others going through difficult times and demonstrate the love and presence of Jesus. And one day when we finally meet Jesus face to face “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore.” (Rev. 21:4)
