Where Are All The Christians? by Jeff Beman

Hebrews 3:13 "But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

During my time in the armed forces, I had the great fortune to be stationed with other Christians around me. At various times we had Bible study groups and other formal meetings, although not very often. But they were out there. We were aware of each other. Some of these relationships have stood the test of years and years and some have dissipated.

Several years ago, I was speaking with one of our aviation missionaries who passed through here. He had also served in the Marine Corps, but his experiences were much different. According to him, in his four years of active duty, “he never met another Christian”. He was alone.

Same environment. Same desires. Different results. The take away from this I would like you to have is this:

Sometimes we can feel so lonely! And from experience I know that you need not be alone to feel alone. But, if we can trust in God and place ourselves where we can find other Christians, and where other Christians can find us, our situations can change.

Surround yourself with those that exhibit the qualities of Christian life. Avoid the groups of people who don’t. And most importantly – Live your life making sure you exhibit those qualities also….so they can find YOU!

Lord, I acknowledge my need for other people. I ask You to lead me to relationships whereby I might grow in You and Your will might be fulfilled in me. Show me what steps to take to see that come about. Amen.
