Trust in the Lord by Bart Bartosh

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

These two verses are pretty simple at face value and are very easy to accept when life is going as planned. However, when it seems like we are being thrown curveballs at every turn, they get increasingly more difficult to take to heart.

This bit of scripture has been on my mind recently because in this “inning” of life, I have been seeing more examples of curveballs, not only in my own life, but in others’ as well. They range substantially from minor inconveniences to life altering situations. Car troubles, health issues, financial hardship, difficult working situations, and dysfunctional families just to name a few. It is these two verses that help me refocus my perspective.

The two words that continue to come to mind when I read it are ZOOM OUT, and even though I will never be able to zoom out enough to understand what God is always doing in my life, and it may not always take the frustration away, I can at least take a bit of solace in knowing that He is making my path straight and He is always with me.

God, thank you for this life and everything that goes with it. We trust in you no matter the circumstances. Please continue to make our paths straight as we continue our walk to your kingdom. Amen
