Family Movie Devotionals: Ralph Breaks the Internet

Ralph Breaks the internet is all about technology and the role it plays in our lives. Let's take some time to talk about it as a family!

Discuss:
  • Do you think the internet is good or bad?
  • What are some good things that happen online?
  • What are some bad things that happen online?

Read:
Colossians 1:16 says, “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.”
God is the creator of everything, and He is the one who made it possible for us to have the internet. Everything was also made FOR God. The internet was created because God has a purpose for it. It gives us so many ways to connect, love each other, and share the good news of Jesus with people all over the world. But it can also become an idol. An idol is anything in our lives that becomes more important to us than God. Sometimes the internet can be used for bad reasons because we are trying to make ourselves happy instead of using it to glorify God. We can become obsessed with playing video games, looking at social media, watching YouTube, etc. and that can become more important to us than God. It can also take time away from us doing important things like homework, family time, and praying. People are ALWAYS more important than technology. Set aside time each day to turn off you phone, TV, and computer to spend quality time with your family.

Discuss:
  • In what ways can our family cut back on technology this week?
  • Pray as a family that God would help you use the internet wisely.

About Family Movie Devotionals

These devotionals are resources you can use to teach your kids about Jesus! Movies have a unique ability to connect to and influence children, and we want to use this to advance God's Kingdom. These are designed for you to read with your children after you watch the movie. We pray these will be used to teach children in fun ways that they can easily understand. We hand these out at our monthly Community Movie Nights, where we show a free family-friendly movie (see our events page for upcoming dates).
