Family Movie Devotionals: Missing Link

Missing Link is the story of a lonely sasquatch trying to find the place where he belongs. He is the last of his kind that he knows, so he goes on an adventure to find creatures who are like him. Mr. Link just wants to find a home.

Have you ever felt like that? Like you don’t fit in? Like you don’t know where you belong? Maybe you have felt lonely, like you don’t have anyone to talk to. We all feel like that sometimes. But if we believe in Jesus, we never have to worry about not having a home or a place to belong to. Jesus makes us a part of God’s family.

1 John 3:1 says, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!”

Everyone who believes in Jesus are God’s children. Being God’s child is the best thing we can ever be! God’s children get to live with God in Heaven forever. When we talk to God He hears us and cares about what we have to say. God protects us and provides for us. HE gives us many brothers and sisters in Jesus called the church that can help take care of us and bring joy into our lives. There are so many great things about being a child of God, that if I started to write them all down, it would fill all the paper in the world and more!

At the end of Missing Link, Mr. Link finds a new home in an unexpected place. He doesn’t stay with the Yetis, but spends his life adventuring with Lionel. It was not what he expected his family to be, but it was better than he ever hoped. Life can be like that for us sometimes, too.

Sometimes we will be lonely, and maybe our family is not what we expected. Maybe we will feel like we don’t belong anywhere.  But life with Jesus will always be, in the end, better than we could have ever hoped.
