Jesus' Eternal Blessings by Randy Simonson
This week's devotional comes from Randy Simonson:
Daily meditations are often spent looking horizontally at life. Moving from the horizontal to the vertical in our thinking involves change. An example for this is looking at our blessings. Blessings or being blessed can be thought of in a variety of ways. Fortunate, happy, granted, favored, lucky to name a few. Blessings may also be connected to individual relationships, material possessions, health and wealth as well. As Christians, these are all areas of mind and body that we may consider periodically, but being blessed by our Lord and Savior involves an entirely different perspective or focus.
“How blessed is the person whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How blessed is the person to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit!” Psalm 32:1-2
Blessings as thought of in human relationships, material possessions or health can bring us comfort and a sense of security for a time, but they can also be readily lost. Being blessed by Jesus involves a transformation that is life changing, involving body, mind and spirit.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me” . Gal. 2:20
Thank you Jesus for your many blessings!
