'Tis The Season by Jason Ling
This time of year just after Thanksgiving, and just before Christmas, can be an overwhelming time of year for me. It seems there is no escape from retailers telling us we need to shop here, save there, make someone happy with this gift. I've even noticed I can talk about purchasing a gift in private and next thing I know ads are popping up on my phone for that same item. This commercialization grows heavy on my heart and seems to just plain annoy me. Ad after ad telling us, “This is the gift they’ll never forget!” The truth be told, that gift was given a long time ago.
Luke 1:10, “Today in the Town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.”
Matthew 1:23, “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means, God with us.”
This is the real reason we celebrate this time of year; God's ultimate gift to us in the form a baby, Savior, and King that changed the world. If you would like to really give the gift that keeps on giving, I invite you to spread this message to someone who doesn’t know of Jesus yet. Invite someone to worship, and pray with you. Maybe all you need to do is just engage in a meaningful conversation with your friends or neighbors that just doesn't focus on the weather. This is truly the gift they’ll never forget. Jesus has not been forgotten for thousands of years and will continue to be remembered into eternity. Thank you God for this gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. May I remain rooted to the truth of this Christmas season, Amen.
